Shawn Hussain embarked on his legal career at Avyno Law P.C. by starting as a law school intern. After finishing his studies, he rejoined the firm and now acts as an intellectual property (IP) attorney, focusing on patent and trademark cases in Encino, California.
During his initial college years, Mr. Hussain’s main interest lay in the sciences. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in environmental and horticultural sciences. In 2015, he achieved his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Throughout his law school journey, he earned recognition such as the CALI Award for Academic Excellence in Legal Research and Writing, as well as the Best Oral Argument award in moot court. He has held membership in The State Bar of California since 2017 and holds licensure to practice at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
While pursuing his bachelor’s degree, Mr. Hussain contributed to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as an engineer and scientist within the Advanced Light Source program. In this period, he composed and published a significant paper on the electronic properties of a novel substance. This experience ignited his passion for innovation and IP law. At present, he serves his clients with the same zeal he once applied to his research during his undergraduate studies, leading to significant victories on their behalf.
In his spare time from safeguarding the intellectual property of other inventors and companies, Mr. Hussain engages in scientific exploration and research. Furthermore, he has offered pro bono IP services to small businesses and startups through the Law Clinic.
