David Mair has dedicated over two decades to specializing in the representation of clients involved in intricate employment litigation and high-stakes employment conflicts. His clientele comprises senior professionals from the investment banking, capital markets, and financial services sectors, as well as senior executives from both private and public companies, along with individuals in professions like law, medicine, accounting, and academia, who work at renowned global financial institutions, professional firms, academic institutions, and businesses. In addition to this, Mr. Mair assists executives and professionals in negotiating employment agreements, team transitions, and severance agreements.

Mr. Mair often finds himself representing executives and professionals, both domestic and international, in employment disputes that cross borders. He frequently collaborates with foreign law firms to devise coordinated negotiation and litigation strategies, particularly for clients within the financial services and related industries.

Among Mr. Mair’s recent cases are those involving the former CEO of a globally listed broker-dealer on the NYSE, pertaining to a breach of contract arbitration, as well as senior executives in the financial services, energy, and biotechnology sectors facing Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank whistleblower retaliation claims. He has also recently assisted numerous investment banking and capital markets senior executives and teams in their transitions between prominent investment banks and financial services firms.

Mr. Mair’s academic background includes earning an LL.B. degree with honors from the University of Dundee School of Law in Scotland in 1989, and subsequently obtaining an LL.M. (Masters of Law) degree from New York University School of Law in 1991. He holds admission to the New York bar and has the privilege of practicing before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, and Fourth Circuits, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of New York, and the Western District of Michigan.

Recognized for his legal prowess, Mr. Mair has been bestowed with the prestigious AV Preeminent peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell, a prominent legal directory in the United States. Additionally, since 2012, he has consistently been named among the top attorneys in New York in the annual New York Super Lawyers listing. Mr. Mair holds the title of Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an esteemed honorary society for trial lawyers, which counts among its members less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. His dedication to pro bono work extends to representing clients through the Cancer Advocacy Project of the New York City Bar Association.
