After interning at the Huntington Beach City Attorney's office and admittance to  The State Bar of California in 1986, and he served as a Deputy City Attorney for two years. He then worked in private practice,  first with a now-defunct workers' compensation defense firm from 1988-1996 handling both workers' compensation and civil litigation, and then had his own office from 1996-2005. Mr. Rutyna continued to serve the City of Huntington Beach as an outside counsel from 1989-2003. In 2005, he decided to further his education and enrolled at Chapman University School of Law and earned his Master of Law (LL.M.) in Taxation degree in 2007.Following this, Mr. Rutyna worked as an insurance defense attorney for two prominent insurance carriers. This experience provided him with invaluable insight into the industry, which helps him build the strongest cases possible for his plaintiff injury clients.Along with maintaining a successful legal practice, Mr. Rutyna is currently a judge pro tem with the Long Beach District Office's Division of Workers’ Compensation and previously volunteered as a judge pro tem in Orange County Municipal Court for traffic and small claims court.
