Jeffrey T. Hammerschmidt

Certified as a criminal law specialist by The State Bar of California’s Board of Legal Specialization and The Criminal Law Advisory Commission, Jeffrey T. Hammerschmidt is an attorney at the Hammerschmidt Law Corporation. Focusing his practice on criminal defense, Mr. Hammerschmidt generally handles cases involving white collar crimes, DUI, drug offenses, domestic violence, murder and other violent crimes, and other felony offenses. He proudly serves clients throughout the Fresno metropolitan area in California.In 1983, Mr. Hammerschmidt graduated from Truman State University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He went on to receive a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1987.Even allegations of a crime can have lasting implications on people’s personal and professional lives. Mr. Hammerschmidt understands what his clients have at stake, and he stands by their side through each phase of the legal process. It is his goal to alleviate as much of their stresses as possible and to mitigate the potential consequences of their arrests. Mr. Hammerschmidt began his career working for more than 12 years as a deputy district attorney in Fresno County. In that role, he gained valuable knowledge of the prosecutions’ procedures and strategies. He draws on his experience to help his clients achieve the best outcomes possible to their cases.In order to best serve his clients, Mr. Hammerschmidt is admitted to practice law in the state of California, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the Supreme Court of the United States. Beyond his work with clients, Mr. Hammerschmidt believes in giving back to his community. He previously volunteered his time as a member of the Saint Agnes Men’s Club.Jeff is a founding member of The President’s Club, which was founded in 2017. To date, TPC has netted more than $3,000,000 to benefit Community Cancer Institute.Jeff served from 2012 to 2016 as a member of the California State Bar Criminal Law Advisory Commission, serving as Chair his final year. Jeff served on the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization (which oversees all 11 legal specialties) from 2019 to 2024, serving as Chair his final year.
