Ms. Mattern has over twenty years of experience as a defense attorney and advocate for individuals charged with crimes, including the underprivileged and disenfranchised. In the course of her career, she has gained a vast body of knowledge in the area of criminal defense, in both pre-conviction, as well as post-conviction proceedings. She has negotiated thousands of favorable dispositions for her clients, litigated over 150 jury trials and obtained numerous jury verdicts of "not guilty," as well as dismissals of several hundred matters in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. While she was student at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, she was a member of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review and completed legal internships, including with the Los Angeles City Attorney and Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1995.From 1996 to 2000, Ms. Mattern was a Deputy Public Defender for the County of Riverside. After that, she opened her own law office and worked for a felony criminal defense panel in Riverside County. During this time, she and her former partner, Lori Davis, formed Davis & Mattern, LLP, a firm was which dedicated to the practice of criminal defense and defending the rights of the individual. Davis & Mattern relocated to Newport Beach in 2003. From 2007 through 2011, Ms. Mattern worked as a Senior Managing Attorney for two large criminal defense law firms in Los Angeles. In 2011, she renewed her private practice, now under the name The Mattern Law Firm, in Los Angeles.
