    Randy Sue Pollock has been a criminal defense lawyer for over 30 years practicing in federal courts throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as well as nationally in other federal districts.  She aggressively protects the interests of her high-profile clients in complex white collar and general criminal cases. Ms. Pollock defends clients against a variety of federal and state crimes, including RICO conspiracies, espionage, securities fraud, mortgage fraud, tax violations, money laundering, drug trafficking and marijuana cultivation and transportation.  In April 2020 she secured an acquittal in the Eastern District of Kentucky in the only on-going federal trial in the U.S. during the pandemic.Ms. Pollock is a graduate of the University of California Hastings College of the Law. She has been a member of the State Bar of California since 1975. Cerna, Ms. Pollock won an acquittal for her client on all counts of racketeering after a five-month battle against federal prosecutors in the Northern District of California. Following this hard-fought victory, she was the only criminal defense lawyer recognized by the “The Recorder” as one of the Attorneys of the Year in 2011.With a productive, less-is-more approach to trial advocacy, Ms. Pollock has tried more than 100 jury cases. She concentrates the jury’s attention on the most important issues by preparing short and direct opening and closing statements and asking the fewest number of questions. The federal judge commended her trial style in the Cerna case.Ms. Pollock is also a persuasive plea negotiator. In 2010, Ms. Pollock garnered a victory when the court dismissed several counts of wire fraud and tax evasion against her client. She negotiated a plea agreement that prevented her client from having to face 40 years in prison if convicted of the dismissed counts.Most recently, she won a motion to suppress all guns and marijuana seized in a Ukiah case.  With extensive briefing and a lengthy evidentiary hearing, the officer was found to have committed perjury and all charges were dismissed.Also, recently, despite the word of a cooperating co-defendant in a federal drug conspiracy case, Ms. Pollock convinced the government that her client was not involved.  No charges were filed even though the government expected him to plead guilty.In June 2018, after a month long trial, Ms. Pollock convinced a federal jury in San Jose that her client was a nominee for millions of dollars of money from her families business.  The government had attributed all the money to her.  She was acquitted of Filing False Tax Returns.Also, after several years of investigation and an on-going grand jury investigation, the government declined to bring federal tax charges against a client in 2017.Ms. Pollock is presently the President of the Northern District of California chapter of the Federal Bar Association.  Previously, she was the Vice President of the Oakland Division of the FBA.  She was a lawyer representative to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and was co-chair of Women Attorney's Advocacy Project.Ms. Pollock is active as a board member of the American Jewish Committee San Francisco Regional Office and chairs the Learned Hand Award Dinner.  She was a recipient of the Learned Hand Award for exemplary leadership, commitment to the principles of justice and fairness, and numerous contributions to the legal community in May 2021.  Presently she is a member of AJC's Arabian Gulf Institute that fosters the principles behind the Abraham Accords in the Middle East.*AV-Preeminent and BV-Distinguished are certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
