Andrew H. Wood, the sole practitioner and founder of his own law firm in Albany, New York, focuses his legal practice on two primary areas: family law matters and estate planning and administration. He has been licensed to practice law in New York since 2006 and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court.

Having pursued a degree in finance with a minor in economics at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Mr. Wood obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in 2001. Subsequently, he enrolled in Albany Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2005. Before establishing his law firm in January 2021, Mr. Wood gained valuable experience working with other local law firms and served as an assistant corporation counsel for the city of Albany.

Mr. Wood’s clientele in the realm of family law primarily consists of individuals contemplating divorce or already engaged in the divorce process. These clients seek his expertise in navigating New York’s laws regarding property division, parenting time, alimony, and child support. He frequently takes a lead role in negotiating comprehensive settlement agreements for his clients. However, when litigation becomes necessary, Mr. Wood is well-versed in representing them in the courtroom. His family law practice also extends to handling matters such as order modifications and the preparation and review of prenuptial and postmarital agreements.

In addition to his family law practice, Mr. Wood assists numerous clients in estate planning. He is responsible for drafting and updating trust agreements, wills, powers of attorney, and advance medical directives. He also provides guidance to heirs and beneficiaries during the often complex probate process. Mr. Wood enjoys a high level of respect among his peers, evident in his “Superb” peer-review rating through Avvo.
