Beixiao Robert Liu serves as the chairman of the Balance Law Firm, located in New York, New York. In his professional capacity, he specializes in representing both corporate entities and individuals across a wide spectrum of legal domains, including financial technology, bankruptcy, employment and labor law, mergers and acquisitions, international economic and trade law, consumer finance, aviation law, and numerous other areas. Notably, Mr. Liu is a certified chartered financial analyst with expertise in navigating issues related to capital markets, anti-money laundering, banking and financial regulations, and financial solutions. Additionally, he possesses fluency in Mandarin.
Mr. Liu’s academic journey began with an undergraduate degree in finance from Tsinghua University. Subsequently, he was accepted into the Yale School of Management through the Silver Scholar Program to pursue advanced studies. There, he earned his MBA in business and management. After completing his education, he embarked on a career with the Promontory Financial Group, a division of IBM, where he climbed the corporate ladder and assumed various influential roles. His responsibilities included advising CEOs of prominent banks in both the United States and China on matters related to risk management and corporate governance.
Simultaneously, Mr. Liu pursued further education by enrolling in the evening program at the Georgetown University Law Center, where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree in international law and legal studies in 2015. He was granted licensure to practice law in New York in 2019 and is additionally licensed in the District of Columbia, Connecticut, Alaska, Washington, Maryland, and New Jersey. Furthermore, he holds admission to practice before several key courts, including the United States Court of International Trade, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States Courts of Appeals for the 2nd and 3rd Circuits, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Beyond his legal career, Mr. Liu actively engages in various professional associations, including membership in the American Bar Association, the New York County Lawyers Association, the CFA Society of New York, and the CFA Society of Washington, D.C. He demonstrates his altruistic spirit by dedicating his time to philanthropic endeavors aimed at assisting less fortunate individuals. For nearly a decade, he has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, contributing to the construction of homes in different neighborhoods throughout Washington, D.C., as part of an initiative to combat poverty.
