In 1986, Ms. Arfa established her own legal practice, named Fay Arfa, A Law Corporation. She holds the distinction of being certified as a Specialist in both Criminal Law and Appellate Law by the State Bar of CA, Board of Legal Specialization. Furthermore, she has earned the certification of Criminal Trial Advocate from the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA). Her legal expertise lies in the defense of individuals facing state and federal charges for serious criminal offenses, including sex-related crimes. Her track record boasts remarkable achievements on behalf of her clients, such as securing dismissals and acquittals in cases involving murder, sex offenses, and other criminal charges. Her experience encompasses a multitude of criminal trials and appeals, encompassing even writs of habeas corpus. Ms. Arfa is known for going to great lengths to ensure optimal outcomes for her clients.

Ms. Arfa’s educational background includes a B.A. from UCLA, along with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the same institution. Prior to entering private practice, she dedicated years to public service, working as a deputy for a member of the Los Angeles City Council. While juggling her full-time role with the City Council and later with a prestigious law firm, she managed to complete her J.D. degree from Southwestern University School of Law. Her professional journey also includes positions as an attorney at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and as a prosecutor at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office. She is authorized to practice law in California and is admitted before the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Ms. Arfa has been at the helm of the Century City Bar Association (CCBA) as its President and currently holds a position on the CCBA Board of Governors. Her involvement extends to the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) where she served as a member of the Board of Trustees. Beyond these roles, she actively engages with various legal organizations, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), the California Public Defender’s Association (CPDA), the Women Lawyers’ Association (WLALA), the California Appellate Defense Counsel (CADC), and the National Child Abuse Defense and Resource Center (NCADRC).
