Florence M. Richardson, who became part of O’Connell and Aronowitz in January 2018, serves as Of Counsel within our firm and has devoted her entire legal career to the practice of matrimonial law since her admission to the bar in 1984. Her primary areas of expertise encompass divorce, child custody, prenuptial agreements, separation agreements, child support, spousal support, and equitable distribution. Prior to her association with O’Connell and Aronowitz, she held a pivotal role at Kahn and Richardson, a prominent Albany-based law firm specializing exclusively in Family & Matrimonial law.

With extensive experience spanning decades, Flo possesses a profound understanding of the physical, emotional, and financial tolls that accompany contested legal proceedings. She recognizes the profound impact matrimonial litigation can have, involving temporary disruptions across emotional, property-related, custodial, financial, and legal domains. She firmly believes that the right attorney can prevent these momentary setbacks from evolving into enduring catastrophes.

Flo is an active member of several esteemed legal organizations, including the New York State Matrimonial Practice Advisory and Rules Committee, as well as the Family Law Sections of the American and New York State Bar Associations. She is also affiliated with the Albany and Schenectady County Bar Associations, the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York (Capital District Chapter), and the Capital District Trial Lawyers Association. Her commitment to pro bono work is evident through her volunteer service with the Albany Law School Pro Bono Law Clinic for Veterans since 2012. Flo’s extensive legal knowledge is further shared through her lectures on various legal subjects, addressing Bar Associations, other organizations, and the general public.

In recognition of her exceptional legal acumen, Flo earned a spot on the 2019 Upstate New York Super Lawyers list for the fifth consecutive year, an honor granted to fewer than 5% of attorneys statewide, marking her as a distinguished figure within the legal community.
