Frank M. Pitre, a partner at Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP, has an extensive history of managing prominent cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, and commercial torts in California since 1981. He is particularly committed to his role on various plaintiff steering committees and as a plaintiff liaison counsel, aiming to secure settlements and enhance safety regulations in the aftermath of commercial incidents.

Among Mr. Pitre’s noteworthy legal accomplishments is his successful pursuit of justice in a wrongful death case where he represented the widow and three children of a U.S. naval officer who tragically lost his life in a bicycle collision with a van. Additionally, Mr. Pitre played a pivotal role as co-lead counsel in a class action lawsuit that compelled a major pharmaceutical company to pay nearly $900 million in settlement for injuries linked to its painkiller products. He is currently involved in ongoing class action lawsuits against an automobile manufacturer for safety-related defects and an airline following an aviation accident. These achievements have contributed to his exceptional “Superb” Avvo score of 10.0 and the esteemed AV Preeminent* distinction, an accolade granted by his fellow legal professionals.

After completing his studies at the University of San Francisco School of Law, Mr. Pitre gained admission to the California State Bar and was also authorized to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is credited with the authorship of several prominent scholarly articles that outline best practices in civil litigation and California tort law, including his notable work “California Personal Injury Proof.” Mr. Pitre’s commitment to legal education is evident through his involvement with the San Francisco Trial Advocacy Program and the faculties of the Hastings College of Advocacy. He holds memberships in esteemed legal organizations such as the American Board of Trial Advocates and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Additionally, he served as the former president of the Consumer Attorneys of California.
