Gary M. Subsequently, he spent a year working with the Office of the Public Defender for the 9th Judicial District in Orlando, Florida, before returning to the New York region.
Upon his return, Mr. Kaufman served as a public defense attorney at Staten Island Legal Services and the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem. These experiences significantly honed his criminal defense skills and introduced him to assisting students facing potential suspensions. Now in private practice, Mr. Kaufman continues to leverage the invaluable expertise he gained to offer the highest level of service to his clients.
Mr. Kaufman is wholeheartedly dedicated to his legal practice and actively participates in various professional legal organizations, including the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the New York State Defenders Association, among others. He has held positions as the past secretary and chair for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York Small Law Firms Special Committee and has also been a member of the Criminal Courts Committee.
Furthermore, Mr. Kaufman serves as a member of the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panels for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Beyond his courtroom responsibilities, he shares his legal expertise by teaching Fundamental Lawyering Skills as an adjunct professor at Fordham University School of Law.
