When Gary S. Mayerson established Mayerson & Associates, his vision was to create a law firm dedicated to addressing the legal needs of America’s most vulnerable individuals. This commitment led to the distinction of being the first civil rights law firm in the nation to represent individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism. Currently, his primary focus is on assisting parents in securing appropriate special needs education placements for their children.

Mr. Mayerson earned his degree in public communications from Syracuse University, followed by a law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. He obtained his New York law license in 1980 and, after amassing over two decades of experience, founded Mayerson & Associates.

As a passionate advocate for the rights of individuals with special needs, Mr. Mayerson boasts an impressive track record of accomplishments. He has successfully litigated cases in both federal and state courts, securing significant victories for his clients. One of his proudest achievements involved championing the cause of Anthony Starego, a 19-year-old with autism, enabling him to participate in an unprecedented fifth season of interscholastic competition. Starego’s exceptional performance played a pivotal role in his team’s landslide victory in the State Championship.

For Mr. Mayerson, his law firm is just one facet of his extensive advocacy efforts on behalf of individuals with special needs in the United States. He is an author and co-author of numerous books on topics related to autism, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and special needs education. He is frequently called upon by organizations and event organizers to serve as a guest speaker. Additionally, he actively contributes to the boards of several organizations dedicated to children and individuals with autism, including the Manhattan Children’s Center Foundation and JobPath.
