Gregory Franklin, an attorney specializing in family law, real estate, wills, trusts, and adoption law, serves as a partner at Ashcraft & Franklin LLP in Rochester, New York. Over the course of more than three decades, he has been dedicated to facilitating adoptions for residents in the Rochester and Syracuse metropolitan areas. His legal expertise extends to assisted fertility, gestational carriers, surrogate mothers, egg and sperm donors, and their prospective families.
Leveraging his extensive legal experience and personal journey as an adoptive parent, Mr. Franklin adeptly guides his clients through the adoption process. With a remarkable track record of overseeing over 2,000 adoptions, including 25% international adoptions, he possesses comprehensive insight into selecting the most appropriate path to achieve the adoption objectives of parents, children, and their extended families.
Mr. Franklin earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Grinnell College and subsequently obtained his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law. While in law school, he earned the prestigious Best National Brief award in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and served as the editor-in-chief of the law school’s moot court board.
He is licensed to practice in all New York state courts as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York. Actively engaged in legal associations, Mr. Franklin is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Monroe County Bar Association, and the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys.
In recognition of his community service, the New York State Bar Association honored Mr. Franklin with the President’s Pro Bono Service Award in 2014. He also boasts an “Excellent” rating on Avvo. Furthermore, he shares his expertise on adoption as a speaker and presenter at various events and conferences.
