Howard S. Shafer serves as a Partner at Shafer Partners, LLP, a law firm located in New York, NY. In this capacity, he specializes in representing defendants across a wide range of legal areas, including chiropractic malpractice, construction law, employment law, nursing home liability, personal injury, professional liability, cyber liability and data privacy, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drones), and insurance matters. Mr. Shafer’s academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Labor Studies from Rutgers University, followed by the completion of his law degree at Brooklyn Law School. He holds licenses to practice law in both New York and New Jersey state courts, as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Actively involved in legal organizations, Mr. Shafer plays a pivotal role as a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association Corporate Counsel Section, Vice-President of Planning for The Jewish Lawyers Guild, and President of Your House Counsel (R), The National Consortium of Insurance and Corporate Liability Defense Law Firms. Additionally, he holds the position of elected Bergen County New Jersey Municipal Committee Representative and Vice-Chair of the Englewood New Jersey Planning Board. His past roles include serving as an Arbitrator for the New York City Civil Court, a Board Member of the Englewood New Jersey Economic Development Corporation, a Member of the Englewood New Jersey Zoning Board of Adjustment, Chair of the New York State Bar Association Corporate Counsel Section, and New York State Chair of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance.

Mr. Shafer’s extensive knowledge and experience have led to invitations from professional organizations to deliver lectures on various legal topics. His reputation for excellence is reflected in the AV Preeminent* rating bestowed upon him by the attorney peer review service Martindale-Hubbell.

He is an active member of the Bergen County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC).
