His legal education took place at the Texas Tech University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1993. His legal practice spans across Texas, New York, and New Jersey, and he is authorized to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western and Southern Districts of Texas.

During his tenure in law school, Mr. Rivas actively participated in the National Mock Trial Competition, and his dedication to pro bono clinics earned him the Legal Services Outstanding Volunteer Award. His illustrious career encompasses roles such as assistant general counsel for the Texas Medical Board, assistant attorney general in the Elder Law and Public Health Division at the Texas Attorney General’s Office, and a stint as a prosecutor in Midland County, Texas.
