John L. Dodd, the founder of John L. Dodd and Associates, Prof. Corp., has been dedicatedly serving clients across California for over three decades, operating from his Tustin office. His legal focus revolves around appeals and writ petitions, and he adeptly represents both appellants and respondents across a spectrum of legal domains, including civil, criminal, family, juvenile, parental rights, and adoption cases.

Having pursued his education at the University of California, Davis, Mr. Dodd obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Western State College of Law in Fullerton, California. During his time in law school, he showcased exceptional prowess by receiving the American Jurisprudence Award in criminal procedure and property law. Additionally, he actively participated in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Mr. Dodd further enriched his legal insights by studying legal history and international law at Downing College, University of Cambridge, England.

Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Dodd embarked on a career trajectory that included roles as a staff attorney at the 5th District Court of Appeal and engagements with private law firms, culminating in the establishment of his own firm. He is authorized to practice law in California and has gained admission to represent clients before the United States Supreme Court, as well as the 7th and 9th Circuits of the U.S. Courts of Appeals. Acknowledged for his exceptional legal acumen, he holds an esteemed AV Preeminent* rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Notably, Mr. Dodd’s professional achievements have earned him recognition on prestigious lists, including Los Angeles Magazine’s compilation of top Southern California attorneys and Orange Coast Magazine’s roster of leading Orange County attorneys.

Mr. Dodd’s involvement in legal and civic organizations underscores his commitment to the legal community and society at large. He served as a board member of the Orange County Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society, during which time he also held the position of chapter president from 2004 to 2008. Furthermore, he has played an integral role in the Executive Committee of the Civil Rights Practice Group of the Federalist Society for over a decade. Beyond legal affiliations, Mr. Dodd has held leadership positions within the Sons of the American Revolution, serving as a former president of the Orange County Chapter and assuming the esteemed roles of chancellor general and current Treasurer General for the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution.
