John Michael Montevideo’s journey as a trial attorney is driven by his commitment to assisting individuals in their pursuit of justice. He channels his legal practice at Montevideo Law, PC towards amplifying his clients’ narratives and ensuring redress for the injustices they’ve endured.

After obtaining his Business Management and Marketing degree from Loyola Marymount University, John Michael dedicated a year to serve with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) in Houston, TX. His service with Vita Living, Inc., a non-profit aiding individuals with developmental disabilities, ignited his passion for advocating against injustice. This experience catalyzed his decision to embark on a legal path. Subsequently, he excelled in his studies and attained a Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C.

John Michael’s legal focus revolves around safeguarding the rights of those who have suffered due to others’ actions. This encompasses diverse cases like dog bite incidents, brain injuries, wrongful deaths, business conflicts, vehicular accidents (including cars, motorcycles, boats, bicycles, and pedestrians), construction mishaps, workplace injuries, government liability matters, sexual assault cases, and product liability disputes.

His track record boasts numerous successful cases, resulting in verdicts and settlements ranging from six to eight figures. Admitted to practice in California, the District of Columbia, and the United States District Court for the Central District of California, John Michael also serves as a commissioned Notary Public in California.

Being a Trial Lawyer is deeply rooted in John Michael’s lineage. Hailing from Orange County, he continues a tradition of trial attorneys in his family. His accomplishments haven’t gone unnoticed – he was a finalist for the CAOC Street Fighter of the Year Award in 2013, recognized as a Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2014 and 2015 (reserved for the top 2.5% of lawyers), and graduated from Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College. Actively engaged in the legal community, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA) and the Board of Governors of the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC).

Before establishing Montevideo Law, PC, John Michael honed his legal skills across various settings, including a prominent business and litigation firm in South Carolina, well-known plaintiff trial firms in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County, and a government role at the Department of Justice’s Environmental and Natural Resources Division in Washington, D.C. Notably, he contributed to the movie “American Gun” in Hollywood, participating in casting, filming, and pre/post-production.

Outside the courtroom, John Michael finds joy in running, sharing laughter with his wife and daughter, tackling home improvement projects, indulging in bodysurfing and backpacking.
