Notably, he was recognized as the Citizen of the Year by The Buffalo News and honored with the Community Service Award by the Minority Bar Association, as well as the Criminal Justice Award by the Erie County Bar Association, among other distinguished service and professional awards. In 2021, Mr. Elmore received the prestigious Erie County Bar Association Attorney of the Year award, the highest honor granted by the 4,000-member Erie County Bar Association. His legal career also includes a notable tenure as a former Manhattan Assistant District Attorney and New York State Assistant Attorney General.

Mr. Elmore earned his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 1985 and currently holds memberships with the Bar Association of Erie County and the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association. He has been appointed by the governor to chair the 4th Department of the Judicial Screening Committee and serve on the New York Judicial Screening Committee, further underscoring his commitment to the legal profession.

Beyond his legal endeavors, Mr. Elmore actively engages with his community, having previously served as a member of the New York State Commission on Indigent Defense. He is a lifelong member of the NAACP, dedicated seven years as a trustee of Erie Community College, and previously contributed his expertise as a member of the United States District Court Western District of New York’s Magistrate Selection Committee. Additionally, Mr. Elmore generously volunteers his time as a certified USA boxing coach, referee, and judge.
