Kevin M. Shelley, a partner at Kaufmann Gildin & Robbins LLP, brings his extensive expertise to the representation of franchise and commercial clients across the United States. His primary focus centers on handling a diverse range of cases encompassing breach of contract, franchise fraud, litigation, franchise termination, securities fraud, employment law, and unfair competition.

Mr. Shelley’s educational journey includes the attainment of two undergraduate degrees from the University of Notre Dame, followed by the acquisition of a law degree from Villanova University School of Law. During his tenure at Villanova, he assumed the role of editor for the school’s law review.

Drawing upon years of experience within the realm of commercial law, Mr. Shelley guides clients through every phase of litigation. He initiates the process by conducting in-depth analyses of the issues at hand, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the client’s objectives for the case. Subsequently, he vigorously advocates on behalf of clients during trial proceedings and has a proven track record of successful appeals. His extensive professional portfolio includes extensive work with franchise owners and information technology firms.

Additionally, Mr. Shelley is a published author, having contributed numerous works to various franchise law publications. He served as an Associate Editor for the ABA’s Franchise Law Journal from 2016 to 2022 and The Franchise Lawyer from 2011 to 2014. Committed to knowledge sharing, Mr. Shelley frequently participates as a panelist or speaker at law symposiums. He holds memberships with esteemed organizations such as the American Bar Association, the International Franchise Association, and the New York State Bar Association.

In terms of his legal practice, Mr. Shelley is admitted to practice before several U.S. District Courts, including the Northern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, the Western District of New York, the Southern District of New York, and the District of Connecticut. He is also authorized to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the federal bankruptcy courts in Connecticut and New York.
