Lou Pechman has a comprehensive practice in workplace law encompassing various areas, such as litigation related to sexual harassment, employment discrimination, employment contracts, non-competition agreements, independent contractor matters, overtime and payment disputes, and labor relations between unions and management. With over 40 years of experience as an employment law practitioner, Lou provides practical guidance to both individual employees and employers for resolving employment law concerns. These issues can be addressed through active litigation, confidential negotiation, or mediation.

Lou’s involvement in the legal community extends to his role as the former Chair of the New York County Lawyers’ Association Committee on Labor Relations and Employment Law. He serves as a moderator for NYCLA’s annual programs on “How to Handle an Employment Discrimination Case” and “How to Handle a Wage and Hour Case.” Lou is a leading expert in New York regarding wage and hour law, having litigated over 300 federal and state court cases involving claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) and the New York Labor Law. Additionally, he is the founder of waiterpay.com, a platform focusing on the intricate wage and hour issues within the New York restaurant industry. Currently, Lou serves as an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University School of Law, where he teaches the course “Wage Theft: Employee Rights and Employer Responsibilities.”

Before establishing his own practice, Lou gained experience as an attorney at prominent employment law firms in New York, served as in-house labor counsel for the New York Daily News, and worked as a Field Examiner with the National Labor Relations Board. He is admitted to practice law in both New York and New Jersey and holds degrees from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations and the Fordham University School of Law.
