Mr. Schwartzbach’s achievements encompass a series of nationally recognized successes. Notably, he secured acquittals for prominent figures like actor Robert Blake, civil rights attorney Stephen Bingham, and organ transplant surgeon Dr. Hootan Roozrokh. His expertise also extended to representing NFL All-Pro running back Marshawn Lynch effectively. In addition to these victories, he managed to secure acquittals in significant cases such as those involving Richard Bandler, co-founder of NeuroLinguistic Programming, and Reuben Vizcarra, a Brown Beret leader accused of orchestrating the murder of a Union City Police Chief in California.
Among his notable accomplishments are his instrumental role in exonerating Buddy Nickerson after nearly two decades of imprisonment, pioneering the defense strategy for Battered Woman’s Syndrome, successfully contesting extradition on the grounds of Arkansas’ unconstitutional penal system, and shaping legal precedents through California Supreme Court decisions. These decisions established the right to a preliminary hearing for felony defendants, as well as a presumptive right to dual legal representation for defendants in capital murder cases.
