Practice Areas: Business Litigation, Employment Litigation
Parag L. Amin (“Parag”) established his law firm with a profound belief that entrepreneurship forms the foundation of the American dream. During Parag’s early years, his father, an immigrant from India pursuing a better life in the United States, invested his life savings into a business. Without the guidance of experienced lawyers, his father navigated the challenges of entrepreneurship alone, working 80-to-90 hour weeks to make the venture successful. Unfortunately, after over two years of hard work and separation from his family, the state’s tax authority approached Parag’s father, claiming he owed hundreds of thousands in unpaid sales taxes. His father, confident in his tax reporting, contested these charges, as his business revenues didn’t align with such enormous back-taxes.
Unbeknownst to him, by purchasing the existing business and its associated entity rather than creating a new one, he inherited the undisclosed liabilities of the previous owner, including unpaid sales taxes. Faced with the choice of shutting down the store or settling the back-taxes, Parag’s father reluctantly closed the business due to the impracticality of paying off the debt with the store’s income. This marked the end of his entrepreneurial aspirations as he resorted to a regular job to support his family. Although Parag was young at the time, this experience deeply impacted him and fueled his determination to become a lawyer – to shield others from the devastation of dishonesty and injustice in the business realm.
In his role as a litigator and trial attorney, Parag has achieved remarkable success in recovering tens of millions of dollars for his clients. His clientele includes public figures, small business owners, and individuals across various legal matters. His achievements have earned him recognition in prominent publications like the L.A. Times, L.A. Weekly, and Rolling Stone Magazine. Notably, he has been honored with the esteemed Rising Star accolade by Super Lawyers for seven consecutive years from 2017 to 2023. This award, determined through peer evaluations, is bestowed upon only 2.5% of lawyers who exhibit exceptional practice standards.
Despite the awards, settlements, and courtroom victories, Parag remains grounded in his commitment to the human aspect of practicing law. He derives the greatest fulfillment from aiding others and giving back to the community.
Parag obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law, supported by a partial academic scholarship. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Beyond his legal qualifications, Parag’s diverse professional background includes experiences in management consulting, real estate investment, and financial advising before entering the legal field. These diverse roles equipped him with a unique financial skillset that distinguishes him from most attorneys. Parag applies this financial perspective to his clients’ legal concerns, seeking holistic solutions that align with their objectives, financial implications, and strategies for success.
