Peter Brown, the principal of Peter Brown & Associates LLP, specializes in providing comprehensive counsel on matters related to Information Technology.

In his capacity as an arbitrator, Mr. Brown presides over intricate technology and business disputes. He has chaired panels handling multi-million dollar claims encompassing international patent licenses, failed software projects, corporate joint technology ventures, and unsuccessful telecommunications projects. Serving as the sole arbitrator, Mr. Brown has adjudicated cases spanning website development contracts, medical devices, franchising, toy design licensing, social media agreements, medical equipment, music licensing, and computer component manufacturing. Over the past decade, he has contributed his expertise to more than 90 arbitration proceedings.

In his role as technology counsel, Mr. Brown offers services in the realms of data security, intellectual property, privacy, and e-commerce. His responsibilities extend to negotiating contracts related to content distribution and online commerce, trademark and patent applications, as well as contracts concerning software and patent licensing, software development, and cloud computing. Additionally, Mr. Brown advises numerous foreign companies on technology matters, licensing, employment law, and the practical aspects of conducting business in the United States.

With an extensive background in litigation, Mr. Brown has served as lead counsel in cases involving information technology, intellectual property disputes, theft of trade secrets, misappropriation of website content, employment law matters, and other commercial disputes. He has conducted trials in both state and federal courts across the United States.

Mr. Brown’s professional affiliations include memberships in the American Arbitration Association and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution Panel of Neutrals, where he handles large-scale commercial cases.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Brown spent over 25 years as a partner at prominent national law firms. He is also the co-author of two books on Information Technology Law and contributes a monthly column on technology law to the New York Law Journal.
