Randi L. Karmel, based in New York, New York, is the founder of Randi L. Karmel, PLLC. In her role as the firm’s founder, Ms. Karmel specializes in family and matrimonial law, particularly in divorce cases, catering to clients in Manhattan and the surrounding regions.

With a career spanning over 25 years, Ms. Karmel expertly handles a wide spectrum of family law matters, including divorce proceedings, abuse cases, custody disputes, equitable distribution, neglect issues, orders of protection, spousal maintenance, and child support. Her client base encompasses individuals with varying income levels, and she also takes on pro bono cases. Throughout her professional journey, she has successfully resolved and litigated numerous intricate legal cases.

An engaged member of the legal community, Ms. Karmel is affiliated with the family law sections of both the Brooklyn Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association, where she currently holds the position of Chair on the Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee. She is also an active participant in the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association, the New York County Lawyers Association, and the New York Women’s Bar Association, having assumed leadership roles and contributed to various committees within these organizations over the years.

In a spirit of community service, Ms. Karmel volunteers her legal expertise with the New York Women’s Bar Association Matrimonial Pro Bono Law Project. Additionally, she serves on the executive committee of Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert and is involved with Savvy Ladies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women to achieve financial independence.

Ms. Karmel graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland, earning her bachelor’s degree, and subsequently received her law degree from American University Washington College of Law. She holds law licenses in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, and she is a certified fee dispute arbitrator in New York’s First Judicial Department. Before establishing her own firm, she worked as an assistant district attorney in the Brooklyn district attorney’s office.
