For over three decades, Randy Sue Pollock has proudly served as a criminal defense attorney, representing clients across federal courts in the San Francisco Bay Area and various national federal districts. With unwavering dedication, she fiercely advocates for the rights and interests of her prominent clients, handling intricate cases involving both white-collar and general criminal matters. Ms. Pollock expertly defends individuals facing a diverse array of state and federal charges, spanning from RICO conspiracies, espionage, and securities fraud, to mortgage fraud, tax violations, money laundering, drug trafficking, and even marijuana cultivation and transportation.

A noteworthy achievement in her career occurred in April 2020 when she secured an acquittal in the Eastern District of Kentucky, marking the sole ongoing federal trial in the U.S. during the pandemic. She possesses a legal education from the University of California Hastings College of the Law and has maintained active membership in the State Bar of California since 1975. Recognized for her exceptional professionalism, Ms. Pollock has achieved an AV-Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell since 2001.

In the case of United States v. Cerna, Ms. Pollock emerged victorious, achieving an acquittal for her client on all racketeering charges after a five-month battle against federal prosecutors in the Northern District of California. Her outstanding performance led her to be the sole criminal defense attorney recognized as one of the Attorneys of the Year in 2011 by “The Recorder.”

Demonstrating a strategic approach to trial advocacy, Ms. Pollock’s record boasts over 100 jury trials. By focusing on pivotal matters, she crafts concise opening and closing statements and poses a minimal number of questions, efficiently directing the jury’s attention. Her trial style received commendation from a federal judge in the Cerna case.

Furthermore, Ms. Pollock possesses adept negotiation skills. In 2010, she accomplished the dismissal of multiple wire fraud and tax evasion counts for her client, skillfully navigating a plea agreement that averted the potential of a 40-year prison sentence.

Recent accomplishments underscore her prowess. She successfully secured the suppression of seized firearms and marijuana in a Ukiah case, uncovering perjury by an officer, which subsequently led to the dismissal of all charges. Moreover, in a federal drug conspiracy case, despite a co-defendant’s cooperation, Ms. Pollock persuaded the government of her client’s innocence, preventing charges from being filed.

In a month-long trial in June 2018, Ms. Pollock convincingly demonstrated that her client was a nominee for substantial funds from her family’s business, countering the government’s claim attributing all the funds to her. This resulted in her acquittal on Filing False Tax Returns charges.

Her adept legal skills were also demonstrated in a situation where, after years of investigation and a grand jury inquiry, the government chose not to pursue federal tax charges against a client in 2017.

Adding to her accolades, Ms. Pollock concluded a three-year term as a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and currently serves as vice president of the Oakland branch of the Federal Bar Association, San Francisco Chapter.
