Scott, a former Trademark Attorney Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), is presently the founder of Sisun Law. Sisun Law is an intellectual property law firm that offers trademark, copyright, and patent law services to clients of all sizes.

Among his numerous achievements, Mr. Sisun has been recognized in the “prosecution and strategy” category of the World Trademark Review 1000 (WTR 1000). This peer-nominated publication highlights his keen sense of timing when applying assertive tactics.

Throughout his nearly two-decade career, Mr. Sisun has handled thousands of trademark applications across various industries, including fashion, technology, finance, food and spirits, and sports and entertainment. He has also conducted thorough trademark clearance searches to assess trademark distinctiveness and potential conflicts. Furthermore, he boasts extensive experience in negotiating and drafting intellectual property agreements, such as settlement, coexistence, and licensing agreements.

As a staunch advocate for his clients, Mr. Sisun has successfully handled complex trademark matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He has also represented clients in domain name enforcement and defense Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) actions. Additionally, he has resolved numerous enforcement and defense matters with third-party retail and social media platforms, as well as individuals and companies. Mr. Sisun is a seasoned speaker who has led and moderated intellectual property roundtables and delivered practical trademark law talks for business owners. His legal writing includes co-authoring the Practical Law publication “Loss of Trademark Rights” and contributing to numerous published articles on various sectors, including cannabis, sports, and fashion.

Beyond his legal practice, Scott mentors startups at all stages for the DC-based accelerator, C5 Accelerate, where he conducts quarterly seminars on trademark law for the accelerator’s cohorts. He is an active member of the New York City Bar and the International Trademark Association (INTA), serving on various intellectual property-related committees, including the Fashion Law Committee, the Trademark & Unfair Competition Committee, and the enforcement committee within INTA.

Mr. Sisun graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University and holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Intellectual Property from the same institution. After law school, he gained initial legal experience as a judicial law clerk for Judge John A. O’Shaughnessy (retired) in New Jersey. Prior to establishing SISUN LAW, Scott worked with large and mid-sized law firms in New York City and served as a Trademark Examining Attorney at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
