With decades of involvement in the labor movement, Walter M. Kane possesses a profound understanding of employment-related challenges. He is one of the founding partners of Cary Kane LLP, where he represents clients in New York, including labor unions and multiemployer and employee benefit plans.
In 1995, Mr. Kane earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Baruch College, followed by a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1999. Based in New York, he practices law before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Before embarking on his legal career, Mr. Kane served initially as an organizer and later as a business agent for a local labor union. Additionally, he has firsthand experience as a commercial truck driver, providing him with valuable insights into the challenges faced by individuals in the trucking and warehousing industries. Today, he represents clients with interests across various sectors, offering legal counsel on matters such as internal union disputes, anti-corporation campaigns, contract disputes, and collective bargaining agreements.
Actively engaged in the legal community, Mr. Kane holds memberships in the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, and the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations Lawyers Coordinating Committee.
Beyond his professional practice, Mr. Kane contributes pro bono legal services to the Irish American Labor Coalition and co-founded the Joint Association of Boxers, an initiative dedicated to unionizing boxers.
